Location: Temple City

Issue: Las Tunas Drive Revitalization

Summary: The City Council voted unanimously on February 11, 2016 to not move forward with any of the previously discussed design options for Las Tunas Drive and to leave the current roadway configuration in place.  The Council asked staff to return at a later date with information about alternative revitalization strategies for Las Tunas Drive that do not involve any changes to the roadway configuration.  Staff anticipates presenting these strategies to the Council in the spring.

Summary: On March 22, 2016 the Board of Supervisors will consider the General Plan Annual Progress Report and Housing Element Progress Report for 2015, which describes the status of the County’s General Plan and Housing Element and progress in its implementation, the County’s progress in meeting its share of the regional housing needs and its efforts to remove governmental constraints to the maintenance, improvement and development of housing; and instruct the Director of Planning to submit the reports to the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research and the State Department of Housing and Community Development by April 1, 2016.

Issue: Water Restrictions

Summary: On April 5, 2016, the Board of Supervisors will consider instructing the Director of Public Works, in coordination with the County’s Cities, local water agencies, business stakeholders, non-profit organizations, School Districts and other regional stakeholders, to design and develop and report back to the Board within 45 days with necessary actions, timeline, budget for developing a Drought Resiliency Work Plan to increase drought preparedness and local water self-reliance, improve water quality to protect public health and advance our communities’ ability to adapt to the effects of climate change, designed to implement projects that improve capture of water from all sources to augment local water supply, improve water quality and include geographically distributed, multi-benefit projects that improve water management while also providing community amenities such as river parkways, green space and habitat, and additionally, reflect, but not necessarily be limited to, the region’s water infrastructure needs identified in existing planning documents, including existing flood control district plans, integrated water resource management plans, watershed management plans and enhanced watershed management plans.
